The third visit to All Saints was a more involved one.

I really wanted to clean the clock today because I was getting a little concerned about the fact it hadn’t been serviced in quite a few years.

However, arriving at the church I noticed the clock was 20 minutes fast. Which was not good, at all.

Going up to the clock mechanism I noticed another issue, one I should have probably identified before

Spot it? Broken tooth :((

Its skipping a bit on that tooth which is probably why its gaining time. I’ve regulated it fairly slowly now so hopefully that’ll help a little bit. However, the tooth will need to be repaired eventually

I cleaned the mechanism up and gave it a general service, whilst also breathing in lots and lots of dust!!

I really am not a fan of the state of these motion works. Its a shame I can’t just take them apart.

Also removed this wheel which was connecting the hour dial (which no longer exists). Cleaned that up and put it back in situ so thats a start.

Also had a look at the hammers, in which the strike hammer has been broken off :(. Presumably by a bell?

Next visit will be on the 8th August (with Mr Kye Leaver!), hopefully some more progress then..
